hi all i have a maxtor 6y160po hdd and my bios does not detect it right it shows in bios as 33000mb and in xp as 31,49gb i tried everything clj jumper, user settings that written on maxtor hp and so on.

can someone help me?

my motherboard is a asus k7m-rm and my bios is a amibios from february 2000 bios id is 62-0117-000000-00101111-071595-A751V686-1AABA130
i hope someone can help me to get the hdd to run.

If you have removed the 32GB limiting jumper from the harddisk and it hangs on being detected you are in for an add-in ATA100/ATA133 IDE controller card since no updated bios was ever released for this board and we can only patch Award bioses up to 128GB. Yours is AMI and your harddisk is even larger...

The very latest Bios is here :

But support should be limited to 128GB but it should fully support a 120GB HDD

Either exchange your 160GB for a 120GB HDD or get an Add-In IDE/UDMA Controller card supporting HDD >128GB
