This mobo is attempting to recover the BIOS

I get video stating;
Award Bootblock BIOS v1.0
CMOS BIOS checksum error

The diskette is identified and the disk reads
the recovery files. After the FDD stops being
read, the mobo resets to a C1 checkpoint
and goes throught the recovery process
in a loop until the mobo is powered off.

The FDD and diskette are known good.
Would an initial assessment be the BIOS IC
is broken or malfunctioning?

C1 details bad SIMM. Presume this refers to
the BIOS IC and not DDR SDRAM as if this
were no good, the mobo would issue an alarm
(beep codes). Where C1 if a valid bootblock
exists, it will try to recover BIOS.

I suspect the recovery process is not working
correctly. Result, replace the BIOS IC or at
the very least reflash.

However, the BIOS is soldered not socketed

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Clear CMOS.
Try a different memory stick or, if more than one installed, try with only one; you may also want to test this one in a different memory slot.

Double and triple check the floppy disk, make sure you only use fresh and full formatted disks. if you are using an autoexec.bat to execute a flash command make sure this command actually works and/or does not wait for a user input.
Maybe try different Bios versions for the recovery, sometimes newer Bios had a different bootblock thus they won't work with the current one.

D

Thx

I'll try with the first and earliest BIOS and if this, does
not work move to the second
There are only three BIOSes available and I've tried latest.
Have ensured the memory is ok as well as the
other points you have raised.

Cheers

Well....

I've tried all three versions of the BIOS available from the
MSI website.

The autoexec.bat file contains;
awfl830 W7061VMS.310 /py/sn/f/cc/r

Both of the files above are on the diskette
The diskette is good.

Q - Is it possible this is an OEM mobo?

I have tried clearing the BIOS - has no effect
