There is no key sequence for the Sony Vaio line that I'm aware of or have come across on the Web. The newer models with the SPI may have a sequence associated with them.

Nevermind, I think I know what you're trying to ask... if the new chip has the same markings (type) as the original and the new chip has an updated version of the software BUT it is the right version for your model, then yes it should work.

This DMI information is stored in the security EProm on the motherboard. It's not stored in the BIOS code. Sony techs do have a DMI writing utility that they use at the repair depot.

Thats the extent of Sony's involvment of component level service when it comes to DMI and BIOS issues.
