More and more I'm starting having a feeling this is an OEM version for another manufacturer. Are there any other markings/stickers on the board? Do you know anyhting about the history of the board?

The maximum resolution that the vbios upgrade will do is 1440x900. I suggest you buy a graphics card that can handle the proper resolution.

If it is the Gateway variety I expect some sort of Gateway labeling in there. Also, please replace the CR2032 coin cell battery first so we can be sure if we start flashing anything it will operate properly. Most likely something went wrong with the bootloader being installed in the wrong partition. There are several guides out there to show how this should have been done, but without knowing what you did exactly I fear it's start over from zero time.

Last OS supported on that one is Windows Vista.

You might try to upgrade to the latest system bios which will include a new vbios.

What model is the board? What else did you buy?

Not necessarely your card that is giving problems, can be the power supply too.
If gaming online, when was the last time you checked your internet connection speed.

What card do you have now, what are you looking for in the new card, what is the rest of your setup (to make sure the newly chosen card will actually run in it).

When was the last time you replaced the CR2032 coin cell battery? If that is empty settings will not be retained in the bios.

I just thought of something. Can you please replace the CR2032 coin cell battery with a brand new one. If that one is empty (lifespan is between 3 and 10 years) the system will react like this too. It's an easy and cheap fix, so if this works...
